UDW President Laura Reyes addressing the Governor and the legislature
in Sacramento

UDW President Laura Reyes, speaking on steps of capitol.

“Stop trying to make family providers feel guilty for getting
paid for the work they do. If anyone should feel guilty it’s
you, for not making the IHSS program better for the consumers and
providers after the millions of dollars we have saved this state
over the years by keeping people out of nursing homes and other
institutions. There is one last thing I would like to tell the
governor and the legislature before I close, and that is to stop
telling us you respect us
SHOW US you respect us
by protecting providers and the people we take care of from any
budget cuts
.”

Chris Long, UDW Secretary Treasurer joins protesters and other
UDW members in Sacramento

"I believe we need to let our Governor know that this is not the
way to balance the California budget.  There are other solutions
and IHSS clients should not be made to pay."
