UPDATED JANUARY 13, 2012
On December 13th, 2011, state officials pulled the budget “trigger”. This authorizes a 20% cut in IHSS service hours.
UDW and other advocates have taken legal action to stop the cuts, resulting in a favorable but provisional restraining order (TRO). While we are pleased with the recent court decision delaying the Jan. 1st implementation of cuts, remember that it is only TEMPORARY. Our clients and our jobs are still at risk. Please use the resources below to get prepared:

If cuts still go through you must be informed about how to apply for the Care Supplement, and ready to act.
Background
Earlier this year, the State Budget was passed with the assumption that the state would receive a certain amount of revenue. As a part of the final agreement, the budget included “trigger” cuts that would take place should the revenue fall short of what was expected. On December 13th, state officials pulled the budget “trigger”. This authorizes a 20% cut in IHSS service hours.
*The above flyer contains information that has since become outdated as a result of the lawsuit. We hope to get finalized material available once the legal matters are resolved. Read information about the court order, whereby the State is prevented from moving ahead with the 20% trigger cut until further notice.
- Please continue to check this web site regularly for the latest news and updates about the 20 percent cut.
- Keep your clients informed about what is happening.
- Attend upcoming meetings and training sessions in your counties.
We may have won the first round, but the fight goes on.
Please spread the word about this important information; learn about the IHSS 20% trigger cuts and how IHSS hours may be restored for some consumers with a Supplemental Care Application.
