Call and Tweet Congress TODAY!

This is a message from Families USA

With a little over one week remaining until the super committee must present their final plan to Congress, now is the time to step up the pressure on both the super committee and Congress to ensure both Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act are protected in the final deficit reduction package.

Call Congress TODAY!

1-888-876-6242

Tell them to protect Medicaid
and the Affordable Care Act!

Cutting or capping the Medicaid program should not be an option. Millions of Americans rely on it for access to health care, and if the program is cut or capped in any way, seniors will no longer be able to afford nursing home care, millions of children will lose access to doctor’s visits, and people with disabilities will lose the option to receive home- and community-based services.

It is necessary for the super committee to take a fair and balanced approach to deficit reduction, which means any package presented to Congress must include significant revenue increases. We cannot allow the health care of millions of seniors, children, and people with disabilities to be taken away in order to protect tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires—contact your member of Congress TODAY and tell them to protect Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act!

Please feel free to use our toll free number 1-888-876-6242, which will connect you directly with the capitol switchboard.

Please also join the health care justice community in a “Twitter Storm.” Leverage Twitter’s disproportionate effect on elected officials by tweeting your members of Congress using the #OurLifeline hashtag. Together, let’s amplify the online conversation and drive home the importance of the Medicaid and Affordable Care Act lifelines for so many Americans.

Time is running out for the super committee to make a decision on a deficit reduction package. Now is your opportunity to make sure your voice is heard during this important negotiation process. Please take a moment today, tomorrow, and even Thursday to contact your member of Congress and tell him or her to urge the super committee to protect Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act and to make sure any deficit package includes significant revenue increases before it’s too late.

Thank you,
