Important IHSS overtime update

We recently notified you that IHSS homecare providers will begin receiving overtime pay, as well as pay for same day travel between recipients, and medical accompaniment time, on February 1, 2016. IHSS providers and recipients will soon receive several notices from the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) informing you of important changes to the IHSS program for both providers and recipients.

Please read each notice you receive, and note that there are forms that need to be signed by you and mailed back to your county IHSS office in the enclosed envelope.

You will receive the following notices from CDSS:

  • Important Information for the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Provider (TEMP 3001) – This notice lists all the changes and new IHSS program rules, and how they affect providers.
  • In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program Provider Enrollment Agreement (SOC 846) – This updated provider enrollment agreement should be read and completed fully by all IHSS providers.
  • In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program Provider Notification of Recipient Authorized Hours and Services and Maximum Weekly Hours (SOC 2271) – This notice shows your IHSS recipient’s monthly authorized hours and services. Please read closely, because there are additions to the authorized services, such as accompaniment to medical appointments, and a new weekly hours maximum which will affect you and your recipient.
  • In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program Provider Workweek & Travel Time Agreement (SOC 2255) – This notice outlines all the rules regarding travel time between IHSS recipients, and the form must be completed by all IHSS providers.

Recipients will receive the following notices from CDSS:

  • Important Information for the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Recipient (TEMP 3002) – This notice lists all the changes and new IHSS program rules, and how they affect IHSS recipients.
  • In-Home Supportive Services Program Recipient and Provider Workweek Agreement (SOC 2256) – This notice outlines the work agreement between recipients and each of their providers. It must be completed and signed by the recipient, and each of their IHSS providers.
  • In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program Recipient Notice of Maximum Weekly Hours (SOC 2271A) – This notice notifies IHSS recipients of their maximum authorized hours, and informs them of the maximum number of hours per week their provider is allowed to work.

If you have questions or need help completing any of these forms, please contact our UDW Member Benefits Center at 1-800-621-5016.

And look out for important information from your local UDW office, your local Public Authority, and the state regarding upcoming IHSS trainings! Many IHSS program rules have changed to accommodate overtime, travel time, and medical accompaniment, and training is necessary to help providers avoid stiff penalties.
