Stock market slump causes California to face $1 billion shortfall

(KCRA) —A recent slump in the stock market is causing a major cash crunch for California. “We projected that we were going to take in about $14.9 billion from personal income taxes in the month of April — the most important revenue month for the state,” said H.D. Palmer, a spokesperson for Gov. Last night, we held our first UDW family child care providers meeting. Attendees were able to join the meeting by phone and in person at our UDW office in Sacramento. During the meeting, we learned more about UDW and the work we are doing to unite providers in order to win improvements for us and our families. On Saturday, November 7th, UDW/AFSCME Local 3930 held a conference call with family child care providers. We learned more about the union and the team who will be mobilizing and helping providers build power including UDW executive team member Johanna Hester, our organizer on-the-ground Rosa Soto, as well as Jennifer Shaw and Charles Lester from AFSCME.
