UDW Around the State
Kern
Providers will open a new office in
Bakersfield very soon. Volunteers have
met twice during the last few weeks and
are ready to get active.
Orange
The Central Labor Council honored UDW
for being the most active union in their council. On Election Day,
more than
200 local providers volunteered to elect
lawmakers who will support home care.
Placer and
El Dorado
UDW members are set to lead a series of
local meetings, home visits and trainings
to inform providers of their rights. To
get involved, call Seth Francois at

Riverside
Momentum continues in Riverside, as
180 providers attend a recent string
of membership meetings throughout
the County. More than 150 providers
attended training on “How to assist their
client in keeping or increasing the hours
they need.”
ADDUS
Riverside Members are
getting educated
and prepared for
upcoming negotiations
with Addus Home
Care. More than 130
providers attended
membership meetings
throughout Riverside County.
The participants discussed
worksite issues, strategized about
contract solutions, and talked about
implementation of the Member Action
Team structure.
Merced
On November 1, 71% of providers
voted to approve “agency shop,” which
will allow the union’s non-members to
contribute to our success and make sure
UDW has the resources we need to win
great contracts. Also, providers will state
meeting with the county to improve our
work for the first time in history.
San
Diego
Providers won a battle to protect
our health insurance. And thanks to
help from our parent union AFSCME,
providers will pay 34% less for health
care than before.
San
Luis Obispo
Providers recently won a new three-year
contract with an immediate 75 cents
per hour raise, another 50 cents per
hour raise in July 2007 and yet another
50 cents per hour raise in March 2008.
Providers also got the county to pay more
money towards their health care.
