Urgent: Cuts to IHSS

Urgent: Cuts to IHSS

Take action to save home care Right now members of Congress are trying to repeal the health care bill, putting IHSS in serious danger.  It would cut $400 million from IHSS — meaning less care for our clients and loved ones It would phase out health care coverage for one third of UDW caregivers It would repeal the Affordable Care Act and put caps on federal funding for Medicaid/IHSS, which will lead to future cuts to the program as a result of less federal funding We can’t let this happen! Call 1-866-584-5792 TODAY and tell your Congress member to vote NO […]

UDW caregivers rally in Placer County to protect our care

“I was so proud to be an American,” said Vicky Coursey, an IHSS provider and UDW member from Placer County. Vicky was one of 34 UDW caregivers who tried to attend a town hall meeting with Congressman Tom McClintock that instead became a powerful rally to protect our health care, home care, and more. “It made me proud to say that this is what democracy is all about,” said Vicky. “If we disagree, we can speak out.” Despite reports of possible empty seats in the town hall, most of the crowd was not allowed in. The Coordinated Care Initiative may require your client to make important choices

Providers who are helping clients or loved ones make decisions about their health care options should watch carefully for communications from the state and county related to the Coordinated Care Initiative (CCI). Only those counties listed below are currently part of the CCI program. Under CCI, many types of services such as medical, behavioral health and long-term support services like IHSS will be moved to a managed care system, referred to as “Cal MediConnect.” Clients who receive IHSS should […]
