Additional 4.4% cut to IHSS hours implemented July 1, 2013: What you need to know

When the state attempted to cut IHSS hours by 20%, we filed lawsuits with the disability rights community to stop them.  As a result, these cuts were reduced to 8% total (4.4% on top of the 3.6% cut already in effect) and were implemented July 1, 2013.  Read more here about how together we stopped the 20% cut. IHSS court settlement bill passed by state lawmakers

Update, May 30, 2013 Budget bills dealing with the IHSS Court Settlement (SB 67 and SB 68), have now been signed by the Governor.  This officially STOPS the 20% across-the-board cuts to IHSS. The settlement agreement resolved three lawsuits related to IHSS cuts that dated back to the Schwarzenegger Administration.  Disability rights advocates, seniors, consumers and providers (including our union UDW) filed these lawsuits to stop devastating homecare cuts that put many lives at risk.  With this settlement, we came to an agreement with the State to accept a much smaller cut instead of a permanent 20% cut.
