With the savings these members-only benefits provide (se below), being a UDW/AFSCME member makes sense.

• UDW issues Union Identification Cards to all members. You will have your own unique membership card identifying you as a UDW member.
• Members receive a free $4,000 Death and Dismemberment policy
• UDW offers a voluntary Dental Benefit plan for members.
• We have additional group insurance rates available through AFLAC
• Members receive special member-only benefits from our affiliate national union, AFSCME which includes credit privileges, vacation packages, etc. (see below)
• Members can nominate, run, and vote in the Officer and E-Board elections as well as nominate, run, and vote in the AFSCME, and UDW delegate elections.
• Members can vote on contract ratifications (contracts for care provider wages, negotiated in your county). If you are not a union member, you can’t vote.
