All of our hard work made a difference, and this week lawmakers announced an end to the 7% cut to IHSS hours of care. IHSS clients will be receiving a Notice of Action in the mail with their new hours, which will be restored starting July 1, 2015. IHSS providers in Riverside and San Diego move to state-level bargaining

June 12, 2015 This week, in a historic first meeting, homecare providers in Riverside County met with representatives from the state to prepare for contract negotiations at the state-level. Up until now, homecare workers have had to bargain for better wages and benefits at the county level, a frustrating process that has caused wages to stagnate in many counties throughout the state where lawmakers have refused to invest in IHSS. Earlier this week, homecare providers and UDW members from around the state participated in three days of action and lobbying in Sacramento to urge lawmakers to end the seven percent cut to IHSS hours. “We can’t wait. We’ve been cut for too many years,” UDW Statewide President Editha Adams said to a room full of homecare workers ahead of Monday’s activities. “Enough is enough.
